Our story
My name is Ildikó Koczkáné Szabó. I was born in Hódmezővásárhely, Hungary. I consider myself a lucky person because ever since I can remember, animals have surrounded me. When I think about my childhood, I find it difficult to recall a time when we haven’t had at least 5-6 dogs around. Not to mention other animals too – my father, apart from being a dog breeder, was also raising pigeons. Later on in life, my son became very fond of horses. So horses joined the backyard, too.
For me, my real passion in life remained the breeding of dogs. First with my father, and then later on with my husband, Ferenc Koczka, I continue to enjoy this beautiful, but demanding hobby. We’ve always bred two different breeds of dogs, though I don’t know why. It just happened this way. With my father, the two breeds were first the Boxer, and then the Giant Schnauzer, and with my husband, the Rottweiler joined in.
HOW IT STARTED
Founding the kennel
Just recently, my life changed in a direction that allowed me to fulfill my long-lasting desire to start breeding two new, fundamentally different breeds of dogs. Firstly, the Belgian Shepherd, and secondly, the Border Collie. I couldn’t have found two breeds that are so profoundly different from each other, even if I tried.
This difference, on the other hand, is what makes our everyday life and daily work particularly enjoyable.
My principle
I am an avid believer, and communicator, of the principle that dogs should NOT be treated as a subordinate servant or an object, but rather as a true companion. I believe that with affection and patience, we can achieve results much faster in the upbringing and training of our dogs. As long as the owner is patient enough and takes the time to observe the communication of his/her dog, then the person will, sooner or later, understand all of the dog’s thoughts – and this form of communication results in an inseparable relationship that, no matter what happens, will never break.
Life of our dogs
My husband and I truly treat our dogs as companions – we spend all of our free time with them. We can’t even imagine anymore to do anything without them, whether it’s a holiday, a short trip, a walk, or even going for a quick ice-cream or a beer in the summer.
Of course in order to be able to do all these, and for everyone to enjoy the time spent together, it is indispensable to have obedient, well socialized four-legged friends, who are well behaved around other dogs and people alike – and achieving this is not a day’s work, not from the breeder’s, not from the owners’, and not from the dog’s part... We would like to share with you all the joy and experiences that our dogs give us on this website.
